Since that time, it has played an\u00a0important role in the re-birth of life, consciousness and expectations of the\u00a0Jewish people in the Czech Republic. We are also closely connected with the\u00a0Slovak Union of Jewish Students, our sister organization, since we divided after\u00a0the break-up of Czechoslovakia in 1993. Currently several hundred young\u00a0people are associated with our youth group.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Aliyah \u2013 the Right of Return, every young Jew between 15 and 35\u00a0years of age can become a member (see: Statutes). The Union is led by an\u00a0annually elected board. The board members work in their free time and without\u00a0any compensation, monetary or otherwise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our goal is to continue our activities and to extend the Jewish culture and\u00a0traditions and as well as to build international and inter generational connections\u00a0within the Jewish world (with other Jewish organizations) and outside of it, too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We also aim to create a positive image of Jewish community. We do this\u00a0through public relations, activities that benefit the general public and by\u00a0participating on inter-religious dialogues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We offer variety of activities to our members throughout the year. Almost every\u00a0week, we organize activities such as expert lectures, discussions, film\u00a0screenings, heritage trips, trekking trips and sporting events. We celebrate all\u00a0Jewish holidays and important jubilees in conjunction with rabbis of various\u00a0denominations, acknowledging the different affiliations of our members.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This wide spectrum of activities also includes restoring Czech synagogues and\u00a0cleaning cemeteries, where there are not presently Jewish communities. These\u00a0types of activities, we believe, consolidate the Jewish consciousness of our\u00a0young members and preserves the heritage for future generations.
