The Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Day of Prevention of Crimes Against Humanity

On 27 January 2022 we will commemorate the 77th anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. In the Czech Republic, this day has been recognized as the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust and the Day of Prevention of Crimes Against Humanity since 2004. In 2005, United Nations General Assembly declared 27 January as an International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.

The commemorative meeting will include speeches delivered by the President of the Senate, Miloš Vystrčil, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Markéta Pekarová Adamová, survivor of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, Helga Hošková – Weissová, Director of the Museum of Romani Culture in Brno, Jana Horváthová and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Holocaust Victims, Michal Klíma.

With regard to the crisis measures issued by the Government of the Czech Republic, the meeting will be held without participation of the invited guests. The ceremony will be broadcasted live on the Czech Public Television ČT24.
